The latest offering from African Gospel Rhytms brings you some of their most powerful performances yet. From a soul-reaching Thank You For Giving to the Lord, to the powerful anthem, "Africa Arise", this is a must-have album!
From the liner notes:
"Africa has had its fair share of problems and we believe its time to give these issues some attention. Some of Africa’s problems have ranged from wars to colonialism, bad and corrupt governments to dictatorship, poor health facilities and high mortality rate to name just a few. In recent years, the appearance of the HIV and Aids on the scene has compounded the already desperate situation resulting to be one of the most devastating punches. This deadly disease has decimated the African population and in many cases leaving many homes without bread winners. My own home, Zambia, has not been spared by this deadly scourge. The number of orphans has sky rocketed and the Zambian government barely has any capacity to provide tangible social welfare to cushion the problem or later on provide a roof over the heads of the orphans now populating the cities streets. However, my heart also goes out to Zimbabwe, a nation once considered the “bread basket of Africa”, now going through serious economic hardships. People are going for days without food, while poverty and disease are order of the day. My word of encouragement to them is, never give up; God is still on His throne.
I dedicate this album to the modern struggles of the people of Zimbabwe who are now in search of new freedom. We fought against the past injustices and today we have found ourselves at the same place we begun. I would like to say, enough is enough and my prayer is to see Africa embrace a new beautiful day, which will blossom with a new breed of servant leaders who will direct the continent to prosperity. Arise Mama Africa, it’s a new day. God bless Africa."
